The sixth batch of pesticides approved to be registered in 2019, 18 pesticide products in the list 07-28-2019

From June 28 to July 4, 2019, a list of the sixth batch of pesticide products with the approval of registration certificates in 2019 was announced to the public by the Pesticide Testing Institute of Ministry of Agricultural and Rural Department. Surprisingly, among all the pesticides, the “33% glufosinate - dicamba SL (3% dicamba+30% glufosinate-ammonium)” from Jiangsu Sevencontinent Green Chemical Co., Ltd. (Jiangsu Sevencontinent) stands remarkably in the list. It is reported that this solution will be utilized to protect uncultivated areas from weeds.

It is also worth mentioning that this is the very first glufosinate – dicamba product that China has ever approved for registration certificates. Therefore, as a pioneer, this act makes a great stride for the registration of glufosinate – dicamba compound in China.

Glufosinate – dicamba by Jiangsu Sevencontinent to be first time registered in China

Aiming to produce fine chemicals and pesticides of high efficiency, low toxicity and less-persistence, Jiangsu Sevencontinent, founded in 1990, has now developed itself into the largest manufacturer of the herbicide metribuzin in whole Asia. Apart from that, the company also makes itself the biggest production base of triazole fungicides in China.

With the business concept of innovation, Jiangsu Sevencontinent has fungicides, insecticides, herbicides and plant growth regulators as its main products. Besides, the company’s hydrogenated products stay at the top internationally. Possessing advanced equipment of detection, production and environmental protection, the company manufactures products of high quality, with 100% qualification rate of market sample inspection.

The approved compound of glufosinate and dicamba is the company‘s new invention with 20 – 70% of active ingredients and 30 – 80% of subsidiary materials. The mass ratio of the active ingredients to the glufosinate - dicamba compound is 0.01 – 100:1. With the good coordination of synergism, this invention is able to control the growth of tolerant plants and elder weeds, so that the effect of glufosinate and dicamba can be brought into full play. What’s more, the compound enjoys a positive economic benefit due to its low costs and easy processing procedures.

Compound mixed with dicamba and glyphosate previously emerged in the markets, once predicted as the future development for herbicides

Dicamba has been always regarded as a high efficient and low toxic herbicide, due to the fact that it can kill weeds rapidly just with a small amount. Besides, the effect is quite sustainable. All of these characteristics also make dicamba an herbicide with high economic benefits. According to a report from MarketsandMarkets in 2017, the global market value of dicamba was predicted to reach USD 521.2 milion in 2022, with the GAGR (compound annual growth rate) of 7.3%.

Nowadays, most of demands of dicamba are beneficial from GMO crops. However, some market insiders thought that the compound of dicamba and glyphosate was expected to lead the herbicide market in the future, after paraquat left the markets. Their reasons are as follows. First of all, with the help of dicamba, the effect of glyphosate could be enhanced to a great extent, which would increase its speed of controlling weeds. Secondly, dicamba – glyphosate compound makes great difference together when it comes to controlling weeds in apple fields. Besides, the duration of its effect could last for a long time and the weeds would never grow again. What’s more, weeds are not resistant to dicamba and the compund also enables the weeds to slow down the resistance against glyphosate.
