Output of power batteries
Regarding output, China's output of power batteries stood at 13.8GWh in May 2021, up 165.8% YoY and up 6.7% MoM, among which output of ternary lithium batteries was 5.0GWh, accounting for 36.2% of the total, up 62.9% YoY but down 25.4% MoM, while output of lithium iron phosphate batteries was 8.8GWh, accounting for 63.6% of the total, up 317.3% YoY and up 41.6% MoM.
From Jan. to May this year, China's output of power batteries added up to 59.5GWh, demonstrating 227.3% accumulative growth YoY, among which output of ternary lithium batteries totaled 29.5GWh, accounting for 49.6% of the total, 153.4% accumulative growth YoY, while output of lithium iron phosphate batteries totaled 29.9GW, accounting for 50.3% of the total, 360.7% accumulative growth YoY.
Installed capacity of power batteries
In May 2021, China's installed capacity of power batteries stood at 9.8GWh, up 178.2% YoY and up 16.2% MoM, among which installed capacity of ternary lithium batteries registered 5.2GWh, up 95.3% YoY and up 1.0% MoM, while installed capacity of lithium iron phosphate batteries registered 4.5GWh, up 458.6% YoY and up 40.9% MoM.
From Jan. to May this year, China's installed capacity of power batteries summed up to 41.4GWh, demonstrating 223.9% accumulative growth YoY, among which installed capacity of ternary lithium batteries totaled 24.2GWh, accounting for 58.5% of the total, 151.7% accumulative growth YoY, while installed capacity of lithium iron phosphate batteries totaled 17.1GWh, accounting for 41.3% of the total, 456.6% accumulative growth YoY.
Production and sales volume of alternative energy vehicles
Statistics showed that in May, China registered 217,000 alternative energy vehicles in both production and sales volume, growing 1.5 times and 1.6 times YoY respectively and continuing to reach the record high over the same period. From Jan. to May, production volume of and sales volume of alternative energy vehicles summed up to 967,000 and 950,000 respectively, both growing 2.2 times YoY.
Concentration ratio
In May 2021, a total of 41 power battery enterprises in China's alternative energy vehicles market had their power batteries loaded and matched to vehicles, one more than that in the previous year. The top three power battery enterprises achieved a installed capacity of 7.3GWh, the top five of 8.5GWh, and the top ten of 9.0GWh, accounting for 74.5%、87.1%, and 92.5% of the total respectively.
From Jan. to May, a total of 51 power battery enterprises in China's alternative energy vehicles market had their power batteries loaded and matched to vehicles, three less than that in the previous year. During this period, the top three power battery enterprises achieved a installed capacity of 30.1GWh, the top five of 35.2GW, and the top ten of 38.2GWh, accounting for 72.8%, 85.0%, and 92.2% of the total respectively.
