Techno's 2,000 t per year sucralose project and Dragon-Phoenix Corn's 20,000 t per year erythritol project completed 02-08-2023

Summary: In Jan., Techno's sucralose production line technology upgrading project and Dragon-Phoenix Corn's 20,000 t/a erythritol project were both completed.

On 18 Jan., the completion and acceptance inspection report of completed environmental protection facilities of Techno (Fujian) Food Ingredients Co., Ltd. (Techno)'s sucralose production line technology upgrading project was made public.

 

Techno primarily produces sucralose and it is one of the leading sucralose manufacturers in China. It has three factories, all in Yong'an City:

  • Nige Phase I Factory: only produces sucralose-6-acetate, an intermediate product
  • Nige Phase II Factory: currently has a production capacity of 1,360 t/a of sucralose and this project technologically upgrades and expands the sucralose production line; another project to build a sucralose capacity of 1,500 t/a in this factory has entered the environmental impact assessment, yet to start construction work
  • North New Town Factory: now under construction

    Overview of Techno's sucralose production line technology upgrading project:

  • Construction nature: Technological upgrading and expansion
  • Total investment: USD8.49 million (RMB59 million), of which USD1.92 million (RMB13.37 million) for environmental protection
  • Location: In the existing Niger Phase II Factory area of Techno, Yong'an City, Sanming City, Fujian Province (no additional land will be used)
  • Construction content:
  • Upgrade the technology of the existing sucralose production line to increase the product's yield rate;
  • Increase inputs of raw and auxiliary materials to ramp up production capacity.
  • Specifically, improve the recovery rate of sucralose-6-acetate and the yield of sucralose by reclaiming a kind of residue from the existing crystallisation process.
  • Production capacity: Sucralose capacity rising to 2,000 t/a from 1,360 t/a.
  • Production process: Esterification, chlorination and substitution reaction, concentration, extraction and purification, crystallisation, alcoholysis, refining
  • Raw material consumption, before expansion vs. after expansion:
  • Thionyl chloride:
  • Before: 6,200 t/a
  • After: 7,300 t/a
  • N, N-Dimethylformamide (DMF):
  • Before: 1,600 t/a
  • After: 5,600 t/a
  • Ethyl acetate:
  • Before: 1,500 t/a
  • After: 1,553 t/a
  • Labour quota: No additional employees, internal employee transfer
  • Working system: Three 8h shifts per 24h workday, totalling 300 working days annually

On 18 Jan., the completion and acceptance inspection report of completed environmental protection facilities of Heilongjiang Dragon-Phoenix Corn Developing Co., Ltd. (Dragon-Phoenix Corn)'s 20,000 t/a erythritol project was disclosed to the public.

 

Overview of Dragon-Phoenix Corn's 20,000 t/a erythritol project:

  • Construction nature: Expansion
  • Total investment: USD31.81 million (RMB221 million) of which USD215,905 (RMB1.5 million) for environmental protection
  • Location: In the existing factory area of Dragon-Phoenix Corn in Qinggang County, Suihua City, Heilongjiang Province
  • Site area & floor area: 18,210.5 m2 & 30,561.5 m2
  • Construction content: Build a new production workshop, office, ammonia solution storage tank, a new erythritol production line and a fermentation system, a drying system and a packaging system, some new supporting facilities, utilities and environmental protection facilities
  • Production capacity: New capacity of erythritol totalling 20,000 t/a in the factory
  • Production process: Use starch to produce glucose ad then the glucose is fermented to produce erythritol
  • Consumption of main ingredients: 45,000 t/a of starch slurry sourced from the starch workshop
  •  

    With a registered capital of USD141.92 million (RMB986 million), Dragon-Phoenix Corn was established in May 1999. It is a manufacturer of agricultural food.
