On 15 June, Guangdong Ganghua issued the reply to the Inquiry Letter for the 2018 Annual Report from SZSE. The performance in Q1 2019 continued the growth trend of 2018, with a net profit of USD3.55 million (RMB 24.56 million), increased by 1,553.57% YoY; and the net profit in 2018 was USD14.16 million (RMB98.07 million), rose by 134.65% YoY.

Affected by the high price of raw material corn, the reduced operating rate of malt syrup manufacturing enterprises and the gradual rising market demand, the average price of 75% maltose syrup in Q2 increased by USD14.51/t (RMB100/t) compared with that in Q1. It is expected that the price of maltose will continue to go up slightly in the near future.

Nanning Sugar Industry had suffered huge losses for two years, which was questioned by Shenzhen Stock Exchange, and the loss continued to expand in Q1 2019. Not only that, the Company's accumulative new borrowing has also increased sharply in 2019. If the loss can't be reversed in time, the net profit in 2019 will continue to be in the red, and then the stock may be stopped listing.

The benefits of 5,000 t/a crystalline trehalose project and 5,000 t/a GOS project in 2018 did not meet expectations, which was questioned by SZSE. Another functional sugar listed enterprise, Longlive Bio-Tech was also questioned by SZSE, due to a sharply YoY increase in the gross profit rate of functional sugar business.

On 20 June, Shanghe Branch of Jinan Ecological Environment Bureau issued a public announcement on the EIA report of 18,000 t/a gluconate series food additives project in Xinhong Pharmaceutical. This new project is expected to produce 18,000 tonnes of gluconate series food additives annually after completion, and estimated to be put into production in Aug. 2019.

On 24 June, Huoshan People's Government Network released the EIA report of Huijia Biotechnology's technical reform project of starch sugar crystal purification. According to the announcement, the project will produce 15,000 tonnes of 94% purified starch sugar and 15,000 tonnes of 99% purified starch sugar after completion, and expected to go into operation in Aug. 2019.

Production and sales of sugar in China during 2018/19 China's sugar production during the 2018/19 sugar production period has been completed. By the end of May 2019, a total of 10.76 million tonnes of sugar had been produced, increased by 454,100 tonnes compared with the same period of last sugar production period; accumulative sales up to 6.67 million tonnes, increased by 921,000 tonnes YoY, and accumulative sales rate of 61.97%, up by 6.21 percentage points YoY.

On 24 May, the 2019 China Sugar Expo and the World Sugar Industry Symposium were held at the Nanning City, Guangxi Province. Taking this opportunity, Chongzuo City held an investment promotion for Guangxi Sugar Industrial Park. At the meeting, 13 projects were signed on the spot, including Fusui Ruminant Feed Project and Fusui Xylose Production Project, with a total investment of USD1.57 billion (RMB10.81 billion).
