China had imported 330kg of corn seeds in July 2019 with import value of USD12,386, both down sharply MoM; China had exported 60,312kg of corn seeds in July with export value of USD92,094, both up slightly MoM.

China had exported 117,782kg of vegetable seeds in Aug. 2019, up by 2.90% MoM; export value of the vegetable seeds in Aug. was USD3,688,137, down by 6.45% MoM. China had imported 456,805kg of vegetable seeds in Aug., up by 85.85% MoM; import value of vegetable seeds in Aug. was USD11,521,493, down by 50.07% MoM.

China had exported 114,463kg of vegetable seeds in July 2019, down by 93.42% MoM; export value of the vegetable seeds in July was USD3,942,248, up by 5,922.93% MoM. China had imported 245,792kg of vegetable seeds in July, down by 56.73% MoM; import value of vegetable seeds in July was USD23,077,250, down by 2.29% MoM.

In order to standardise joint tests in the Province, in accordance with Measures for the Approval of Major Crop Varieties, Guangdong Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs enacted the Administrative Measures on Joint Tests for Major Crop Varieties on 16 Sept., 2019. The new measures takes effect for 5 years since 20 Oct., 2019.

On 29 Sept., an expert panel conducted a corn field yield monitoring on 315 mu of Jinong 802, a kind of corn variety with multiple resistance, high quality and quick dehydration. The project, which takes place in Shizi village, Santai Town, Anxin county is undertaken by Hebei Provincial Agro-Tech Extension Station. The yield per mu of the tested variety, Jinong 802 came to 822.73 kg.

Although mechanized-harvesting of corn kernel is considered to be the fundamental way to break the predicament of the corn industry, the national coverage of the technology is just 5%. Therefore, it's essential to develop and promote the technology. On the afternoon of the 8th, experts had a discussion on the issue. The corn low-breakage mechanized harvesting technology demonstrated at the event is capable of harvesting corn kernels directly in the field, with a low breakage rate. As government departments at all levels pay more attention to the application and promotion of kernel harvesting, more and more corn field has adopted the technology, offering promising prospects.

Last year, the African swine fever has greatly affected the downstream demand for corn. The output of new corn this year will exceed that of the previous year, while the downstream demand remains sluggish due to the swine fever. At the same time, feed enterprises are cautious in their purchase, and deep processing enterprises have yet to start building long-term inventory. Therefore, the overall demand will maintain weak.

The wheat seed harvesting area across the province has decreased slightly in 2019, while the structure of the seed varieties has been optimised, the overall harvested seeds are of high quality, and the yield per mu is higher than the previous year.
