Chinese Chongqing Steel to relocate steelmaking equipment

Reportedly, Chongqing Steel planned to spend RMB 1.925 billion for the relocation of its old steelmaking equipment assets including a 1,350 cubic meters blast furnace, three 80 tons converters, two billet con-casting machines and a high-speed wire rod production line from Dadukou to the new site in Changshou.

Meanwhile, Chongqing Steel has also granted certification from seven classification societies including China Classification Society, Det Norske Veritas (DNV) and Germanischer Lloyd (GL) on its new 2,700 mm normalizing shipbuilding plate production line, which will officially begin operation right afterwards. The production line is capable of producing shipbuilding plate of grades of D, E and E36 in a thickness range of 20mm to 40 mm.

Chongqing Steel's shipbuilding steel output reached 2.08 million tons in 2011, which ranked the second in the Chinese steel industry
