Due to hectic seasonal demand and restriction on electricity use in South Africa, the price of European blast furnace ferrochrome is expected to surge for the first quarter of 2014.

Eti Krom, Turkish ferrochrome producer, indicates its prices would go up to about US$120~125 cent/lb. for the first quarter of next year, increasing by over US$10 cent/lb. compared to the fourth quarter of 2013.

South African ferrochrome producers mostly make the prices with European stainless steel mills around US$112.5 cent/lb. in 2013.

Currently, the spot price of high carbon ferrochrome in Europe has soared to US$100~US$105 cent/lb. as a result of surging demand and nickel price.
