Jero Wacik, Indonesia's Energy and Mineral Resources Minister said that the country will carry out a ban on exports of mineral ore from January 13rd, 2013, without the inclusion of any exemption.
The ban on exports of mineral ores will help to process ore domestically, Wacik said.
He added that there are at least 28 smelters that have started ground breaking and the ore will be need domestically.
In the background, Indonesia accounts for 15% of global nickel supply and the ban on ore exports will mainly affect stainless steel production in China.
