Times Of India reported that Bokaro Steel Limited, a unit of Steel Authority of India Limited, is facing a tough time owing to dwindling demand for steel and poor plant condition and has sought help from its parent company.
Mr Anutosh Maitra CEO said that "BSL's production units need maintenance. This is raising cost of production, which is affecting profit.'
Mr Maitra asked SAIL not to increase annual production target in this financial year, which was recently approved by SAIL board members.
Mr Maitra justifying his stand to SAIL management said in the coming 12 months, he is focused on carrying maintenance work for strengthening its unit, which will help in controlling the rise in production cost and improve product quality.
