Pork price continues dropping in most areas
According to MOA's Agri-product Wholesale Market Information Network, the Nationwide Agri-product Wholesale Price Index for the 18th week of 2014 (April 28-May 4, 2014) is 200.20 (year 2000=100), up by 0.64 point over the previous week. The Nationwide Non-staple Food Wholesale Price Index is 201.20, up by 0.89 point. The trade volume of 60 items in 50 wholesale markets under intensive monitoring is 653,900 tons, down by 8.4% compared to the previous week.

Note:
1. The price of pork dropped for 11 consecutive weeks, 11.7% lower than that of the same period last year. The price fell remarkably in Anhui, Fujian, Guangxi, Xinjiang, Shaanxi and Hebei, while rose slightly in Shanghai, Beijing, Shandong, Jiangsu and Zhejiang on a weekly basis.
2. The price of egg rose for 8 consecutive weeks, 17.4% higher than that of the same period last year.
3. The total trade volume in 50 major wholesale markets under intensive monitoring of MOA.
4. 15 of the 28 vegetable items witnessed price drop, 13 items saw price increase.
5. The price dropped for 12 consecutive weeks, 6.6% lower than that of the same period last year.
