Chinawill face pressures in supplying enough farm products to meet the growing demand over the next five years, mentioned by Chen Xiaohua, China's vice agricultural minister. Chen said in the next five years, China will annually consume an extra 4 million tonnes grain, 800,000 tonnes vegetable oil and 1 million tonnes meat.

China needs to accelerate agricultural development with more policy support. The government will provide more funding for agriculture and subsidize technology development for farmers, and also enhance agricultural market regulation, boosting farmers' income, Chen said. In 2010, China has produced 546.4 million tonnes grain, 39.2 million tonnes cooking oil and 77.8 million tonnes meat.
