Food Certification International certifies Havsbrun
Food Certification International (FCI) has certified feed producer Havsbr?on in accordance with the new GLOBALG.A.P Standard for Compound Feed Manufacturers.
GLOBALG.A.P is a private sector body that sets voluntary standards for the certification of agricultural products around the globe. The GLOBALGAP standard is primarily designed to reassure consumers about how food is produced on the farm by minimizing detrimental environmental impacts of farming operations, reducing the use of chemical inputs and ensuring a responsible approach to worker health and safety as well as animal welfare.
The launch of version 2.0 of FCI''s Compound Feed Manufacturing Standard is part of GLOBALG.A.P''s range of standards complementary to the Integrated Farm Assurance standard for livestock and aquaculture. Food Certification International Ltd (FCI) is an independent, accredited inspection and certification body specialising in the food sector.
When it comes to the production of livestock and aquaculture species for human consumption, the production and sourcing of compound feed play a crucial role for food safety. Therefore, the compliance with the requirement in GLOBALG.A.P''s Integrated Farm Assurance standards for livestock and aquaculture regarding quality assurance for production, supply and purchase of compound feed is essential for the producers.
In 2009, the activities of the responsible technical managers and the sector committees for agricultural livestock and aquaculture at GLOBALG.A.P focused on the development of the new version of the compound feed manufacturing standard. The experience and the commitment of specialists related to compound feed production helped define the control points and the compliance criteria.
Havsbr?on is a producer of fishmeal, fish oil, and fish feed situated in the Faroe Islands. Approximately 80% of the fish feed consist of fishmeal and fish oil that is produced locally in Havsbrun''s own fishmeal production plant.
