Myanmar progresses in fish feed production

Fish feed production in Myanmar has been making progress, as over 1,800 tonnes were produced and distributed per day.

Myanmar now has 26 fish feed factories, most of which are located in Yangon and the others in Nyaungdong, Pathein, Kyaingtong, Mandalay, Pantanaw and Pyi, said sources from the fish feed production and trading association on Thursday (Dec 3).

The country's fishery authorities have set a new target of 700 million dollars of marine export for the current 2009-10 fiscal year which started in April. In the first five months of the fiscal year up to August, Myanmar's marine export has so far generated over 174.67 million dollars, up 72.9 million dollars from the same period of last year.

Myanmar has an estimated yield of marine products at over one million tonnes per year.
