Akiolis completes full acquisition of Fiso Group
Feed processor Akiolis, a wholly-owned French subsidiary of Tessenderlo Group, has acquired the remaining 50 percent stake in the Fiso Group.
The financial details of the transaction were undisclosed.
Fiso''s own daughter companies, Ferso Bio and Solagra, major businesses in the South West of France, as well as Fiso''s subsidiary ISPAC, will step up to become fully integrated as part of the group as of July 1, 2009.
Ferso Bio offers rendering services to 55,000 livestock breeders in 14 departments.
Solagra specialises in the collection and processing of poultry by-products, supplying fats and dehydrated proteins to the petfood industry in France and to various export markets.
Ispac specialises in the collection and preparation of animal by-products intended for the wet feed market for pets.
Ferso Bio, Solagra and Ispac employ 250 staff and operate three plants and seven collection centres.
Akiolis is planning to directly produce bioenergy sources by 2010, producing biofuels with animal fats and oils and methanisation.
Akiolis Group, Europe''s third-ranking operator, processes one million tonnes of feed materials each year and its assets include 13 industrial sites and 41 collection centres and transshipment stations. It specialises in solutions for the collection, processing and marketing of organic byproducts (derived from meat and cereals) sourced from livestock farms and the agri-foodstuffs industry.
