Cargill to cease operations at Franklin animal feed plant
Press Release
Cargill will cease operations at its Franklin, Conn. animal feed production facility as of August 1, 2009.
According to company officials, Cargill's existing dairy and farm store customers in Connecticut and New England will receive service via Cargill's Salem and Albany, N.Y. feed facilities with the same level of support and service to which they are accustomed.
The challenges facing the business given current economic environment necessitated this move, said Robert Sheffer, regional general manager for Cargill Animal Nutrition's business in the Northeast US.
The facility has 16 full-time employees.
Cargill is an international provider of food, agricultural and risk management products and services.
