Sales sulphate additives remain slow in China

Cupric sulphate

Slow feed demand, resulting from limited hog and poultry inventories, curtailed the sales of feed additives. As copper futures prices weakened of late, cupric sulphate producers lowered prices in attempts to entice buyers.

As of March 18, price quotes of cupric sulphate by producers were lower in the range of RMB13,700-14,000/tonne.

With output costs low, producers will hold down cupric sulphate prices while demand stays weak.

Zinc sulphate

Producers negotiated prices as raw ingredients costs were soft amid ample supply.

Zinc sulphate market is expected to stay soft amid light trade.

Manganese sulphate

Manganese ore prices softened of late. Producers of manganese sulphate kept prices stable while buying interest was weak.

Demand is expected to remain poor as livestock industry suffers heavy losses. However, limited availability of manganese sulphate will help to underpin prices in the coming period.

Ferrous sulphate

Despite slack demand, ferrous sulphate prices remained firmed during the period in review.

Ex-factory price quotes by major producers were slightly higher at RMB460/tonne.

Ferrous sulphate prices are less likely to strengthen further as supply has increased lately.
