Vice Minister Niu Dun meets Wisconsin delegation

Vice Minister Niu Dun met US Wisconsin delegation headed by Lieutenant Governor Rebecca Kleefisch in Beijing on Dec. 9, 2014. The two sides exchanged views on strengthening China-US agricultural cooperation.

 

Niu noted that China-US agricultural cooperation has advanced constantly with well-functioning cooperation mechanisms in recent years. The two countries enjoy fruitful achievements in agricultural S&T exchange, steady growth in agricultural trade and expanding two-way investment in agriculture. Agricultural cooperation has become a priority and highlight of the bilateral cooperation.

 

Niu put forward three-point proposal for future bilateral cooperation in agriculture:(i)to jointly promote two-way agricultural investment and sustainable healthy development of agricultural trade; (ii) to carry out pragmatic cooperation based on the Sino-US Plan of Strategic Cooperation in Agriculture (2012-2017) signed by MOA and USDA; and (iii) to promote province-state agricultural cooperation withthe bond of sister state/ province relationships.

 

In response, Lt.Governor Rebecca Kleefisch stated that the US side highly values the agricultural cooperation with China, and expects to further healthy agricultural trade through enhanced cooperation. She agreed with Niu on the proposal for bilateral agricultural cooperation, saying that the US side is willing to work together with China to promote agricultural cooperation and sound development of agricultural trade.
