ICAMA held a meeting on examination and approval of revision to
technical standard of agriculture on Termiticides (NY/T 1153.1-6—2006) in Hangzhou City of Zhejiang Province on Dec. 14, 2012. The standard focuses on efficacy tests and evaluation of Termiticides for registration.
ICAMA Deputy Director-General Liu Jiemin attended and addressed the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Director Zhang Wenjun from Biology Division of ICAMA.
At the meeting, the expert panel listened carefully the explanation on revisions to the standard, discussed and examined the format and contents of the draft for examination and approval as well as roundup of comments. Suggestions were also put forward for further revision.
Based on the international standard while considering the conditions in China, the revised standard stipulates basic principles and requirements for efficacy tests and evaluation related with termite prevention and control. The contents include toxicity of technical material and formulated products, transmission activity, soil treatment, wood preservation, building protection and so on. Different test procedures and methods for termite control in different scenarios are specified. The revised standard is more science-based, and its indicators are more reasonable and feasible.
Liu expressed his appreciation for diligent efforts from experts. He instructed for further revision in light of comments from experts to ensure earlier submission to higher authority. He hoped that the revised standard be released at an earlier date and will play an important role in efficacy test and evaluation of Termite repellant.
