Summary: On 11 Nov., Guizhou Phosphate Chemical Group completed the successful trial production of its LiPF6 project.
Guizhou
Phosphate Chemical New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (Phosphate New
Energy), a subsidiary of Guizhou Phosphate Chemical Group Co., Ltd.
(Guizhou Phosphate Chemical Group), successfully tested the 10,000 t/a
LiPF6 project on 11 Nov.
Highlights of the project are indicated as follows:
Location: Kaiyang County, Guiyang City, Guizhou Province
Total investment: USD137.51 million (RMB987.00 million)
Floor areas: 8.67 ha
Construction works of the first phase: 16 production lines for LiPF6, the first of their kind for Guizhou Phosphate Chemical Group and Guizhou Province
With
a registered capital of USD278.64 million (RMB2 billion), Phosphate New
Energy was established in Dec. 2021. The largest shareholder, Guizhou
Phosphate Chemical Group, holds 45% of the company, while Contemporary
Amperex (Guizhou) Materials Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of
Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited, holds 35%. Phosphate New
Energy speicialises in the R&D, manufacturing, and sales of new
energy materials and related electronic chemicals such as
phosphorus-based cathode materials and their precursors, fluorine-based
electrolytes, and electrolytes, as well as the recycling of waste
batteries, etc. It now can produce 60,000 t/a of iron phosphate and
100,000 t/a of LFP, and recycle 10,000 t/a of batteries.
Guizhou
Phosphate Chemical Group was founded in Sept. 2012 and registered with a
capital of USD835.91 million (RMB6 billion). Known as a large
state-owned enterprise governed by the Guizhou State-owned Assets
Supervision and Administration Commission, the company is heavily
involved in the phosphorus chemical industry, with its major business
lines being phosphorus ore mining and processing, phosphorus compound
fertiliser, fine phosphorus chemicals, sulfur coal chemicals, and
fluorine and iodine chemicals.
In
2021, Guizhou Province became the first province in China to have a
provincial-level support policy that is specifically focused on the new
energy battery and material industry. Because of the advantages that
Guizhou Phosphate Chemical Group has in the phosphorus chemical sector,
the 10,000 t/a LiPF6 project
will enable the company enter the new energy industry and will address
Guizhou province's "One Core and Two Districts" development pattern.
["One Core" refers to using the two key phosphorus chemical industry
bases, "Kaiyang County - Xifeng County" and "Weng'an County – Fuquan
County", as the core to create new energy batteries and supporting
industrial clusters and develop the phosphorus and fluorine-based
battery materials industry belts; "Two Districts" refers to the New
Energy Battery & Material Industry Cluster in Tongren City and in
Xingyi City, Southwestern Guizhou Province. The purpose of these two locations is to expedite the development of industry clusters specialising in battery materials and raw & auxiliary materials, which are represented by ternary cathode materials and raw & auxiliary materials.
