Generally speaking, prices of pesticides in China rose in 2018 and fell in 2019. According to CCM, in H2 2018, prices of herbicides and insecticides showed an upward trend; herbicides, in particular, reached to a high level in terms of the price. Yet since the end of 2018, reversed trend in price was witnessed in herbicides and insecticides. Whereas prices of fungicides remained relatively stable all this time.
In mid-2018, rises in prices were brought about by changes from the supply side. Reform and environmental protection regulations pushed low-end capacities out of the industry. Pesticide capacity had been concentrated on leading enterprises. Shrinking supply encouraged the prices to go higher.
For the 15 AIs, namely chlorfenapyr, bifenthrin, lambda-cyhalothrin, emamectin benzoate, cypermethrin, azoxystrobin, trifloxystrobin, tricyclazole, cyazofamid, cymoxanil, nicosulfuron, bensulfuron-methyl, mancozeb, cyhalofop-butyl and clodinafop-propargyl, definitely changes in their prices from June 2018 to Sept. 2019 were different.
Along with regular environmental inspections at all levels, production suspension and restriction in pesticide manufacturers become new normal. Pesticide output in most areas had greatly declined, so the prices climbed up and remained high.
