In Jan. 2016, many listed Li-ion battery related companies, such as BYD Company Limited (BYD), Sunwoda Electronics Co.,
Ltd. (Sunwoda), Shenzhen Yinghe Technology Co., Ltd. (Yinghe Technology),
Jiangsu Jiujiujiu Technology Co., Ltd. and Sichuan Tianqi Lithium Industries,
Inc. (Tianqi Lithium), up-regulated their expected 2015 financial figures
largely.
Vehicle manufacturer
BYD predicted the net profit to rise by
518.18-557.39% YoY in 2015, to USD408.92-434.86 million (RMB2.68-2.85 billion).
“In Q4, the domestic alternative energy vehicle market showed
explosive growth – the sales of our plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV),
including 'Qin' and 'Tang', topped the market, and the orders for electric
vehicles for public transportation, such as K9 and E6 were increasing sharply.
All of this enabled the rapid development of our alternative energy vehicle
business,” said BYD.
Li-ion battery (incl. PACK)
Sunwoda predicted the net profit to
increase by 80-110% YoY to USD46.08-53.86 million (RMB302-353 million).
Accordingly, the company adopted the “3C +
power + energy storage” pattern (3C= computer, consumer electronics and
communication). Now it has developed itself into a global leading Li-ion
battery (incl. PACK) supplier. In future, the emerging markets such as wearable
devices and Things of Internet will bring a new-round growth to the 3C
business. Sunwoda has already established a department to march into the
intelligent dressing industry.
The company’s business layout in power and
energy storage fields is in line with the government’s intention to support the
development of alternative energy industry. It is estimated that in 2015, the
consumption of Li-ion battery in the 3C field occupied over 50% of the total
(36% for “power” field).
However, it is expected that the figures will change:
by 2020, the 3C business will take up about 25%, the power business will
surpass 50% and the energy storage sector will get 15%. This indicates that the
development potential of alternative energy industry is very huge.
In the alternative energy market, Sunwoda
has cooperated with Shenzhen INVT Electric Co., Ltd. and Chery Automobile Co.,
Ltd. to make business layout in fields of battery, electric machinery and
electronic control, and has clearly targeted at Shanghai General Motors Wuling
Co., Ltd., Shanghai Wuzhoulong Motors Co., Ltd., BAIC Motor Corporation Ltd.,
Guangzhou Automobile Group Co., Ltd. and Dongfeng Motor Corporation.
Meanwhile,
it has partnered with Huawei, Schneider Electric SA and suchlike to
strategically march into the fields of system integration and Energy of
Internet.
Devices
Yinghe Technology announced the rise of
14.80-22.72% in net profit. In 2015, it carried out many M&A to enrich the
product range and extend the business into the automation sector.
Electrolyte and lithium hexafluorophosphate
(LiPF6)
Jiangsu Jiujiujiu believed that its net
profit will rise by 5.37-26.03% to USD77.82-93.07 million (RMB510-610 million).
This can be mainly attributed to the
sharply increasing price and gross profit margin of LiPF6. “The ex-works price
is over USD45,774/t (RMB300,000/t), some even at USD61,032/t (RMB400,000/t).
The capacity utilisation rate is 85-90%. We are in short supply,” said Jiangsu
Jiujiujiu on the interaction platform.
Lithium raw materials
Tianqi Lithium up-regulated the expected
net profit from USD10.68-15.26 million (RMB70-100 million) to USD32.80-38.91
million (RMB215-255 million). This is 64.75-95.40% higher than that in 2014.
This is mainly because:
Increasing demand and short supply. From this, the company showed rises
in both production and prices of lithium salts, which then pushed up the sales
and gross profit.
Depreciation of AUD higher than the expected figure. Under this, the net
profit made by Windfield Holdings Pty Ltd. is beyond expectation
