More than 70 people including Deng Guanglian,
vice president of the CNSA, Chang Hong, director of the Gansu Seed Management
Department, Wang Haifeng, Deputy Mayor of Zhangye City, Vice Secretary of Lince
County Committee, Feng Jun, Chief of Linze County, other leaders and
representatives of the Corn Seed Industry Branch participated in the
conference.
At the conference, Hou Yunpeng, chairman of
Beijing Tunyu Seeds Co., Ltd. (Beijing Tunyu) and Wang Yuxi was elected as the
third president and the secretary general of the branch respectively. Notably,
according to the Work Regulations of the Corn Seed Industry Branch of the CNSA,
all positions were directly elected by representatives (one unit one vote).
It was agreed on the conference that
China's corn seed industry is faced with stern situation currently – falling
corn price, adjusted corn planting structure, overstocked corn seed (the
oversupply situation won't be relieved in the short term), and a large number
of private companies and poor-quality products, which seriously hinder the
development of law-abiding enterprises.
Therefore, strengthening market
supervision and industry self-regulation are urgent tasks for the industry. What's
more, as the planting pattern is continuously changing, and the precision
degree of planting is improving, the development of modern agriculture calls
for higher standards and requirements of the R&D, quality and production
bases of seeds.
The Gansu Seed Management Department, the
People's Government of Zhangye City, and the People's Government of Linze
County were especially invited to introduce the construction and management of
state-level corn seed production bases as well as the production situations of
2016. In the meantime, they discussed how to build a win-win production
base-enterprise relationship that is more harmonious, stable, and highly
efficient than before.
