China's power batteries report larger installed capacity in August 09-26-2021

In Aug. 2021, China's installed capacity of power batteries stood at 12.6GWh, up 144.9% YoY and up 11.2% MoM.

Output of power batteries

China's total output of power batteries reached 19.5GWh in Aug. 2021, up 161.7% YoY and up 12.3% MoM, among which output of ternary lithium batteries was 8.4GWh, accounting for 42.9% of the total, up 91.5% YoY and up 4.8% MoM, while that of lithium iron phosphate batteries was 11.1GWh, accounting for 56.9% of the total, up 268.2% YoY and up 18.8% MoM.

From Jan. to Aug. this year, China's accumulative output of power batteries added up to 111.5GWh, demonstrating an accumulative growth of 201.0% YoY, among which output of ternary lithium batteries summed up to 53.2GWh, accounting for 47.7% of the total, 137.2% accumulative growth YoY, while that of lithium iron phosphate batteries summed up to 58.1GWh, accounting for 52.1% of the total, 301.8% accumulative growth YoY.


Installed capacity of power batteries

In Aug. 2021, China's installed capacity of power batteries stood at 12.6GWh, up 144.9% YoY and up 11.2% MoM. Specifically, installed capacity of ternary lithium batteries this month registered 5.3GWh, up 51.9% YoY yet down 2.1% MoM, while that of lithium iron phosphate batteries reported 7.2GWh, up 361.8% YoY and up 24.4% MoM.

From Jan. to Aug. this year, China yielded 76.3GWh in terms of total installed capacity of power batteries, demonstrating 176.3% accumulative growth YoY, among which installed capacity of ternary lithium batteries during this period amounted to 40.9GWh, accounting for 53.6% of the total, 111.2% accumulative growth YoY, while that of lithium iron phosphate batteries amounted to 35.2GWh, accounting for 46.2% of the total, 338.6% accumulative growth YoY.


Production and sales volume of alternative energy vehicles

Statistics show that in Aug. 2021, China's alternative energy vehicles reported 309,000 in production volume and 321,000 in sales volume, both growing 1.8 times measured on YoY terms. From Jan. to Aug. this year, production volume of and sales volume of alternative energy vehicles summed up to 1.81 million and 1.80 million respectively, both growing 1.9 times YoY.


Concentration ratio 

In Aug. 2021, the number of power battery enterprises in China's alternative energy vehicles industry which had their power batteries loaded and matched to vehicles was 38, five less than the figure in the same period of last year. In this month, the top three power battery enterprises generated their installed capacity of 9.6GWh in total, the top five of 10.5GWh, and the top ten of 11.6GWh, accounting for 76.3%, 83.9%, and 92.7% of aggregate installed capacity respectively.


From Jan. to Aug. This year, the number of power battery enterprises in China's alternative energy vehicles industry which had their power batteries loaded and matched to vehicles totaled 54, five less than the figure in the same period of the year before. During this period, the top three power battery enterprises generated their installed capacity of 54.9GWh combined, the top five of 63.9GWh, and the top ten of 69.9GWh, accounting for 71.9%, 83.7%, and 91.6% of aggregate installed capacity respectively.
