On 24 June, the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report of Nantong Jinling Agrochemical Co., Ltd. (Nantong Jinling)'s 36,610 t/a pesticide formulations expansion project was approved by local authorities. This project is deemed as in accordance with the industrial positioning and development requirements of Yangkou Chemical Industrial Park, Rudong County, Nantong City, Jiangsu Province.

The 36,610 t/a pesticide formulations expansion project can well match up with other pesticide technical capacity in the same chemical park. Sourced from those technical producers, Nantong Jinling helps to supplement the existing pesticide industry chain in the park. The company will also slash its total pollutant emission with this project, through upgrading production process and pollution treatment facilities.

Currently, it is required that the number of pesticide enterprises in the western side of Yangkou Chemical Industrial Park should not increase any further; in fact, the park intends to reduce the number to 15 from 23 at present. Furthermore, Nantong Jinling, along with Nantong Shizhuang Chemical Co., Ltd., Rudong Huasheng Chemical Co., Ltd., Nantong Gongcheng Fine Chemical Co., Ltd. and Jiangsu Nantong Lihua Agrochemical Co., Ltd., all located west of Yangkou Third Road, is prohibited to launch chemical pesticide synthesis project (including synthesis of pesticide intermediates, excluding pesticide mixing and subpackaging).

Nantong Jinling was reformed in Jan. 2000 from the former Rudong Third Chemical Factory, which was established in 1977. It relocated to Yangkou Chemical Industrial Park in 2008. And in Aug. 2013, the then Nantong Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau approved to incorporate the relocation technical transformation project of the former Nantong Jinma Chemical Co., Ltd. (Jinma Chemical) into Nantong Jinling. Though part of the lines originally planned by Jinma Chemical completed construction, Nantong Jinling did not put them into trial run in 2014, seeing changing market dynamics. The production equipment was dismantled and sold in Oct. 2015. And the workshops and warehouse lay idle. This time, the expansion project clearly declares to give up building production capacity for technical products previously planned by itself and Jinma Chemical, since the company has transformed into a manufacturer only engaged in pesticide formulation production.
