Summary: In early Oct. 2022, LB Group revealed the completion environmental inspection report of the TiO2 technical renovation project of Xiangyang Titanium.
On 10 Oct., 2022, LB Group Co., Ltd. (LB Group) publicised the completion environmental inspection report of its wholly-owned subsidiary, LB Xiangyang Titanium Industry Co., Ltd. (Xiangyang Titanium)'s technical renovation and project expanding titanium dioxide (TiO2) capacity from 100,000 t/a to 150,000 t/a on the company's official website.
Xiangyang Titanium, founded on 29 April, 2011 with registered capital of USD42.26 million (RMB300.00 million), is a major production base of LB Group in Xiangyang City, Hubei Province for building the "circular economic industrial chain of sulphur–phosphorus–titanium". Xiangyang Titanium is situated in Chengnan Industrial Park, Chengguan Town, Nanzhang County, Xiangyang City, Hubei Province, covering an area of over 32.4 hectares. The company carried out the 100,000 t/a rutile TiO2 project in 2011; to further increase its market shares and improve overall competitiveness and to realise energy conversation and consumption reduction, Xiangyang Titanium started constructing this technical renovation project expanding TiO2 capacity from 100,000 t/a to 150,000 t/a in 2015.
This technical renovation and capacity expansion project is established within the original plant site in Chengnan Industrial Park. The total investment of this project reaches around USD54.40 million (RMB386.20 million), USD0.70 million (RMB4.95 million) of which is environmental investment, accounting for 1.28% of the total. The environmental impact assessment report of this project was formulated in early 2022 and the company received the reply from Xiangyang Municipal Ecological Environment Bureau on 16 Feb., 2022. The main part of this project began construction in Jan. 2022 and the whole project was finished and put into operation in June 2022.
When completed, this project achieves capacity of 150,000 t/a rutile TiO2, 800,000 t/a intermediate product, sulphuric acid, 100,000 t/a by-product, feed ferrous sulphate, and 72,770 t/a ferrous sulphate heptahydrate.
