Summary: In late Sept. 2022, Yunnan Yuntianhua and Huayou Holding signed a cooperation agreement on establishing a 500,000 t/a FePO4 project and a 500,000 t/a LiFePO4 project.
On 29 Sept., 2022, Yunnan Yuntianhua Co., Ltd. (Yunnan Yuntianhua) and Huayou Holding Group Co., Ltd. (Huayou Holding) signed the Intention Agreement of Cooperation on Ferric Phosphate (FePO4) and Lithium Ferrous Phosphate (LiFePO4) Projects in Kunming City, Yunnan Province. The two sides planned to construct a 500,000 t/a FePO4 project and a 500,000 t/a LiFePO4 project.
Based on Yunnan Yuntianhua's announcement, Huayou Holding will be transferred 49% shares of Yunnan Yunjuneng New Material Co., Ltd. (Yunjuneng New Material) held by Yunnan Yuntianhua; at the same time, Yunnan Yuntianhua will accept 49% shares of Yunnan Youtian New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. held by Huayou Holding.
Project planning of Yunjuneng New Material:
Yunjuneng New Material intended to divide this 500,000 t/a LiFePO4 project into three phases. Specifically, the first phase will build 100,000 t/a LiFePO4 and is predicted to be completed in 2023; both the second and the third phases will build 200,000 t/a LiFePO4 and they are expected to be finished in 2024 and 2025 respectively.
Previously, Yunnan Yuntianhua mainly focused on FePO4 while laying out new energy sector; the company will enter LiFePO4 field through this cooperation with Huayou Holding. Huayou Holding will further expand its business in the whole industrial chain of new energy li-ion battery materials.
Since the start of 2021, many listed phosphorus chemical enterprises including Hubei Xingfa Chemicals Group Co., Ltd., Yunnan Yuntianhua, Hubei Yihua Chemical Industry Co., Ltd., and Xinyangfeng Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd. have stepped into new energy battery sector and cooperating with new energy enterprises becomes a major way for phosphorus chemical enterprises to develop new energy business.
