The construction of RZBC Boyuan's 140,000 t/a citric acid upgrading project had passed the acceptance check in May 2019. Now RZBC Boyuan has the production capacity of citric acid of more than 300,000 tonnes. TTCA's optimisation and expansion project for citric acid cleaner production resources had passed the acceptance check in March 2019. Now TTCA has the production capacity of citric acid of more than 300,000 tonnes.

Shandong Tongbang's 0.3 million t/a lactic acid, 0.2 million t/a polylactic acid and 0.1 million t/a polylactic acid fiber production lines project is divided into two phases. The Phase I construction is expected to be completed in April 2022 and the Phase II construction in October 2023.

On 12 November, 2019, the EIA report of Jindan Technology's 0.4 million t/a starch and 0.2 million t/a high-gloss pure lactic acid projectwas made public as it was accepted by the Ecology and Environment Bureau of Zhoukou City. Total investment of the project is USD231.24 million (RMB1.61 billion). And the construction period is 12 months.

In Q4 2019, affected by low prices of raw materials, increasing market supply as well as sluggish demand from downstream industries, average price of citric acid monohydrate was USD586.47/t (RMB4,082.67/t), down by 1.16% QoQ and down by 12.73% YoY; average price of anhydrous citric acid was USD657.77/t (RMB4,579.00/t), down by 0.88% QoQ and down by 12.64% YoY.

On 18 October, the commissioning ceremony of Xinghan Biotechnology's 30,000 t/a lactic acid project was held. On 1 November, Zhejiang Youcheng signed the Investment Cooperation Agreement on Guangxi Polylactic Acid Degradable New Biobased Materials Industry Base Project to construct 750,000 t/a lactic acid and 500,000 t/a polylactic acid project. On 8 November, BBCA Group's 5,000 t/a lactic acid and 3,000 t/a polylactic acid industrialisation demonstration line was put into trial operation smoothly.
