Domestic corn prices maintained a strong momentum of growth in August, with the average monthly price soaring to USD332.09/t, up 7.57% MoM and 23.75% YoY. However, with several negative factors, subsequent corn prices are expected to remain stable or go down slightly.

Last year, China's fresh corn industry achieved remarkable results –planting areas of 1,333,333.33 ha (20 million mu), 56+ state-approved varieties, and high market consumption of 57 billion ears of corn. This verifies it as an emerging and promising corn industry, in addition to the corn feed industry and the corn deep-processing industry.

On 14 Aug., Zhejiang Huakang issued its IPO prospectus (Draft for 2020) for the SHSE, announcing its intentions to raise USD199.20 million (RMB1.39 billion) to build 2 technical improvement projects for xylitol (30,000 t/a) and sorbitol (30,000 t/a), etc.

On 14 Aug., the Chinese NDRC and the MOFCOM jointly issued the Agricultural Product Import Tariff Quotas Announcement 2020, detailing the redistribution of import tariff quotas for corn and wheat, etc. Transactions of auctions of corn temporarily stored by the state have been curbed by policy regulations.

On 17 Aug., Xiwang Foodstuffs announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Shandong Xiwang Foodstuffs, plans to invest USD213.20 million (RMB1.49 billion) in a new project of 300,000 t/a small-package corn germ oil. After the project is put into production, Xiwang Foodstuffs' small package corn germ oil capacity will rise to 600,000 t/a.
