With the witness of Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and President U Thein Sein of Myanmar, Mr. Han Changfu, Minister of Agriculture of China and Mr. Ohn Myint, Minister of Livestock, Fisheries and Rural Development of Myanmar, signed the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Agriculture of the People's Republic of China and the Ministry of Livestock, Fisheries and Rural Development of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar on Strengthening Cooperation in Livestock and Fisheries Sector in Naypyidaw on Nov. 14, 2014.
This MOU outlines a series of measures to promote in-depth agricultural cooperation between China and Myanmar. China will train 300 technical and managerial personnel in agricultural sector for Myanmar in the next five years. A Yunnan-based agro-technology training center and a Myanmar-based agro-technology demonstration center will be set up. The two countries will also cooperate in the establishment of disease-free zones in Myanmar. In addition, China will grant small agriculture loans to Myanmar, in order to promote the agricultural partnership to a new height.
