According to report released by Germany-based service centre group Damstahl, the European stainless steel market is slowing no substantial change in the second quarter, in comparison of a quarter ago.

Damstahl said that the stainless steel demand improve moderately in the first quarter of this year but remained well below the demand.

Although the stocks are low at the European mills and distributors, the stock replenishment can be only limited if nickel prices keep falling, Damstahl said.

However, some European stainless producers' profits should improve in the second quarter, boosted by effective cost-cutting policy.
