It's reported that the major US stainless producers have hike the alloy surcharge for stainless steel products for October in response to higher nickel prices.

It's known that the major US stainless mills' October surcharge for 304 grade coils rises US$0.76~US$0.77/lb. from US$0.73~US$0.74/lb. in September; that for 316 grade coils increases to US$1.08~US$1.09/lb. from US$1.04/lb. while that for 430 grade coils decreases to US$0.23/lb. from US$0.24/lb.

Meanwhile, the nickel prices at LME jumped to touch the price level of US$18,000/ton last week, driven by the US's QE3 monetary policy.
