Guangzhou China Jan. 5, 2011 - According to the statistics of 31 provincial plant protection stations, the total amount of national pesticide demand will reach 308,200 tonnes in 2011, up 2.69% compared with last year, while the demand of insecticides in 2011 will slightly decrease to 124,900 tonnes, down 1.43% compared with last year. In 2011, the total amount of fungicide demand will increase to 72,800 tonnes, up 2.94% compared with last year, and the demand of herbicides will increase to 97,500 tonnes, up 9.33% compared with last year. In 2011, the amount of national pesticides whose demand is over 10,000 tonnes includes dichlorvos, acetochlor, glyphosate, copper sulfate, carbendazim and trichlorfon.
The demand of insecticides has slight decrease and its specific varieties are different. The demand of organic phosphorus and carbamates decreases 4.88% and 6.21% respectively compared with last year, while the demand of pyrethroids and other insecticides increases 16.31% and 11.24% respectively. According to the 7th International Plant Protection meeting held in Istanbul, Turkey in 2010, the overall demand of fungicide will increase this year. The global market of pesticide has an increase of 3.4% in 2010, having got rid of the drop trend last year and returning to the previous eight-year growing trend, which is good for Chinese pesticide export. From Jan. 2010 to Oct. 2010, the export volume of pesticide increases 16.14% compared with the same period last year. It is a certain trend that pesticide market will step into bull market after recovery, for the demand of Chinese herbicide and fungicide is huge.
According to the statistics from Chinese pesticide market, the value of Chinese pesticide market reaches about USD3.55 billion, including USD770 million of the pesticide import which takes up 20% of pesticide market share. For the past 3 years, the import of pesticide has an yearly increase of 10% ~ 25% , while the sales of domestic pesticide has only an yearly increase of 5% ~ 10%.
