Affected by hot weather, many provinces and cities in China are experiencing power shortages, and the domestic steel and electrolytic aluminum industries have begun to be affected.
According to Guangxi Province-based Chinese steelmaker Liuzhou Iron and Steel Co. (Liuzhou Steel), power cuts have caused decreases in its production, with its output in July down 20 percent month on month.
Against the background of the power cuts, Liuzhou Steel, the largest steelmaker in Guangxi Province, has been closed since July 28 and plans to carry out maintenance work at its facilities over 15 days. Accordingly, there is expected to be a shortfall of about 75,000 mt in the plate production of the company.
