MOC: Average finished steel price in China softens slightly

On September 4, China's Ministry of Commerce (MOC) announced that during last week (August 26-September 1) the average finished steel price in China indicated a decline of 0.1 percent week on week.

In particular, in the given week average prices of 10 mm plate, 20 mm x 1.2 mm welded pipe and 12 mm rebar in China declined by 0.3 percent, 0.3 percent and 0.2 percent week on week, respectively.

In the week ending September 1, average prices of minerals in China were down 0.9 percent compared to the previous week. Furthermore, the average prices of tungsten ore, copper ore, iron ore and zinc ore were down 3.4 percent, 1.6 percent, one percent and 0.1 percent respectively, all compared to the previous week.

In the given week, average prices of energy in China were down 0.2 percent week on week. The average price of crude oil was up by 0.2 percent, and the average price of raw coal declined by 1.5 percent, while the average price of metallurgical coke remained unchanged, all week on week.
