Chinese steelmakers cut stainless steel prices for Sept shipment

It is reported that Taigang Stainless and Baosteel Stainless, the two largest stainless producers in China, have announced to cut the list prices of its stainless steel products by up to 4% for September 2012, due to falling nickel prices and sluggish domestic market.

Taigang Stainless, the largest stainless producer in China decided to reduce its list prices of 304 grade cold rolled and hot rolled coils by CNY 700 per tonne and CNY 300 per tonne to CNY 18, 200 per tonne and CNY 18, 100 per tonne respectively. Also, it reduced the list prices of 430 grade cold rolled coils by CNY 400 per tonne to CNY 10,100 per tonne.

Meanwhile, Taigang Stainless continued offering a discount of CNY 600 per tonne to its distributors in September 2012.

Baosteel Stainless, the second largest stainless producer in China decided to rescued its list prices of 304 grade cold rolled and hot rolled coils by 2.7% and 4% from a month ago to CNY 17,800 per tonne and CNY 16,800 per tonne respectively
