China imported 64.98 million t of the iron ore in Feb.

According to the data compiled by China's customs, Chinese steel product exports totaled 3.39 million t in February of 2012, decreasing by 0.34 million t month over month while increasing by 36.69% year over year. At the same time, Chinese overall steel product exports came to 7.12 million t in January-February of 2012, up 27.4% year on year.

During the given period, China had imported 1.22 million t of the steel products in February of 2012, increasing by 0.3 million t month over month and by 1.67% year over year. While from January to February, Chinese overall steel product imports amounted to 2.14 million t, down 19.4% year over year.

Besides China also imported 40 thousand t of the billet in February and the overall billet imports amounted to 70 thousand t in January- February, down 41.7% compared to the same period of last year.

At the same time, Chinese coke exports came to 80 thousand t, surging by 12 thousand t month over month and by 67% year over year. On the other hand, in January to February of this year, the year-to-date coke exports stood at 0.15 million t, down 65.9% year over year.

In addition, China imported 64.98 million t of the iron ore in February, jumping by 5.66 million t month over month and by 33.6% year over year. While in January to February of this year, the year-to-date coke exports had reached 124.26 million t, up 5.7% year over year.
