                      Themed "Gas: Sustaining Future Global Growth", WGC2012 was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from June 4 to 8. A CNPC delegation led by President Zhou Jiping participated in the conference and the exhibition.
  
  On June 7, Mr. Zhou delivered a keynote speech titled "The Rapidly Growing World and Chinese Natural Gas Markets". While mentioning major changes in the structure of world natural gas market, he talked about the current situation and future development of China''s natural gas market. He said that CNPC will keep establishing natural gas as a business of strategic significance and high growth potential for the future.
  
  CNPC delegation submitted 16 papers and gave presentations on 10 topics including the status quo and future of gas exploration in China, and the development of unconventional gas resources.
  
  At CNPC''s booth, Zhou Jiping met with Chevron Vice Chairman and Executive Vice President of Upstream and Gas George L. Kirkland, GDF SUEZ Executive Vice-President in charge of the Global Gas & LNG business line Jean-Marie Dauger, Pluspetrol President and CEO Steve Crowell, Chairman Emeritus of JGC Group Yoshihiro Shigehisa, Petronas President & CEO & Acting Chairman Tan Sri Dato'' Shamsul Azhar Abbas, and President of WPC Executive Committee Renato Bertani, respectively. They compared notes on issues concerned by both parties, and improved mutual communication and relations.
  
  WGC 2012 is hosted by International Gas Union (IGU) and co-hosted by Petronas. Since 1931, IGU has been organizing WGC once every three years. Fully showcasing the industry''s latest development, providing information on policy, strategy and technology, and analyzing the challenges and opportunities in the industry, the triennial World Gas Conference and Exhibition is the biggest and most important global gas industry event.
