Oil and gas pipeline welding inspection techniques win national patents

On August 9, new techniques for the safe and lossless inspection of long distance oil and gas pipelines, undertaken by CNPC Pipeline Research Institute, passed acceptance check by CNPC's Science and Technology Management Department. The techniques also won five national patents, including three utility model patents and two national invention patents.

The research group developed automatic ultrasonic testing equipment for metal tank welding inspection, and digital radiography testing equipment for pipeline girth welding inspection. The two sets of equipment passed field tests at Lanzhou Commercial Crude Reserve Base and Nanchang-Shanghai branch of the Second West-East Gas Pipeline respectively.
