On July 14, the large scale chemical
fertilizer
plant at PetroChina Tarim Oilfield Company — the largest one of its kind in China — successfully commissioned in Korla, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
Chairman of the standing committee of the local people's congress, Eligen Imibakhi, and CNPC Vice President also PetroChina President Zhou Jiping were present at the commissioning ceremony and delivered speeches respectively. CNPC Vice President Li Xinhua presided at the ceremony.
The operation of Tarim large chemical fertilizer plant will surely facilitate the utilization of abundant gas resource of the Tarim Basin, promote upstream and downstream integrated development of Tarim Oilfield, meet the demands of agricultural development in Xinjiang, and drive local economic and social development.
With a total investment of RMB 2.93 billion, the plant started to be built on August 15, 2007 and was put into trial operation on May 19, 2010. The plant is expected to produce 450,000 tons of synthesisammonia and 800,000 tons of urea every year, which will fill the gap of the absence of macroaggregate urea in south Xinjiang. Advanced
technologies
are adopted and parts of key equipment are introduced from abroad. The indexes in energy efficiency, material
consumption
and
environmental protection
all reached international leading level.
