On June 12, Chinese Vice-Premier Wu Yi and Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Zhukov attended and made speeches at a ceremony to launch the construction of the Chinese Trade Center in Moscow. CNPC Vice-President and Chairman of China Huaming International Investment Co. Limited Zhou Jipin also made a speech.
Chinese Ambassador to the Russian Federation Liu Guchang, Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov, Chinese Vice-Minister of Commerce Yu Guangzhou and Russian Federation Deputy Foreign Minister Rasokov also took part in the ceremony with 300 other participants.
The Chinese government attaches great importance to such relations with Russia and has worked hard to create a sound platform for cooperation between companies from the two countries. New progress in Sino-Russian relations as well as frequent exchanges of people and a soaring trade volume has led to the establishment of the trade center, which will provide good business services and play an active role in Sino-Russian economic cooperation.
The real estate project is funded by Huaming Limited, a holding company of CNPC. It is a multi-functional center covering a total area of 200,000 square meters and consists of a five-star hotel, top-grade office buildings, exhibition halls, a shopping mall, entertainment centers and traditional Chinese gardens. It is expected to open in 2010.
