Lysine demand remains sluggish in China

Lysine prices dropped further during the week ending May 7.

Demand showed little improvement even though hog prices were relatively stable of late. Feed millers held back purchases while hog feed consumption remained low and soymeal prices are poised to soften amid increases soy imports.

Price quotes of 98.5-percent lysine were in the range of RMB11.55-12/kg.

China's feed demand is unlikely to recover swiftly as the growths of livestock population stall. This in conjunction with lower amino acids inclusion rates amid softer soymeal prices will decimate the sales of lysine.
