Skretting opens largest fish feed plant in Norway
Erlend Sødal, managing director of Skretting Norway, has officiated the opening of an extended fish feed plant in Averøy, Norway on September 20, reportedly the largest and most advanced facility of its kind in the world.
The Averøy facility has become a reference model within the
Skretting Group. "We put major effort into this project, which has taken two years to complete. In that time, nearly 600 people have visited and worked at the facility," said Jorulv Søbstad, the plant manager.
"This is the most comprehensive and successful project we have ever completed," added production manager, Hilde Roald. "We started to prepare the site two and a half years ago. More than 9,000 hours went into administration and project management and around 400,000 man-hours were invested in work on-site."
Accoring to Søbstad, the plant is currently capable of producing 450,000 tonnes of feed yearly. With the extended production facilites, Skretting is able to ship out 12,000 tonnes of feed weekly. The original facility built in 1983 could only produce 6,000 tonnes annually.
