India Kashmir fisheries build a new feed mill

North Kashmir is building a new fish feed mill with a production capacity of 24 tonnes a day and 9,000 tonnes a year, officials from the state commented this week.

The feed mill is located in Manasbal in Bandipora district, north Kashmir. It will be fully automated, and is expected to be commissioned by 2014 at a cost of INR10.70 crore (US$1.92 million). It will meet the demands of local fish farmers, and encourage aquaculture in the region.

The feed mill is equipped with an extrusion line, allowing it to create floating pellets that give enough time for the trout to take in the feed.
