Prices of India''s poultry feed products drop

India''s poultry feed products became cheaper on Wednesday (Jan 16), following continuous fall in prices of key ingredients.

A continuous fall in soymeal mainly led feed prices down, said Aditya Mishra, a commodity expert. After touching levels of INR3,010 (US$55) a quintal in the third week of December, soymeal prices have been falling, he said.

Soymeal eased further by INR70 (US$1.3) and settled at INR2,760 (US$51). Bajra went down by INR25 (US$0.5) to INR1,370 (US$25), while corn quoted INR30 (US$0.55) up at INR1,580 (US$29). Di-calcium phosphate at INR36.50 (US$0.67) a kilogramme and meat and bone meal at INR32 (US$0.6) a kilogramme remained unchanged. Rice bran oil was quoted at INR56 (US$1.03) a kilogramme, while after witnessing a fall last week, mustard de-oiled cake ruled flat at INR1,530 (US$28) a quintal.

After ruling flat since the last week of November, feedprices went down by INR20-60 (US$0.37-1.1) for a 30-kilogramme and 50kilogramme bag on Wednesday (Jan 16). Price of broiler concentrate feed eased by INR60 (US$1.1) and quoted at INR1,800 (US$33) for a 50-kilogramme bag while broiler starter mash was INR20 (US$0.37) down at INR1,440 (US$26.5).

Broiler pre-starter concentrate 30% went down by INR60 (US$1.1) at INR1,540 (US$28.4) for a 30-kilogramme bag while layer concentrate quoted INR60 (US$1.1) down at INR1,365 (US$25) for a 50-kilogramme bag. Pre-lay mash and broiler finisher went down by INR20 (US$0.37) each and quoted at INR1,010 (US$19) for a 50-kilogramme bag and INR1,420 (US$26) for a 50-kilogramme bag, respectively.

Meanwhile, an increase in demand pushed broiler and chick prices marginally up while egg traded in a negative territory, on Wednesday. Egg was marginally down at INR3.48 (US$0.06). Broiler went up by INR2 (US$0.04) and quoted at INR78-80 (US$1.44-1.47) a kilogramme, while chick improved by INR4 (US$0.07) and sold at INR20-22 (US$0.37-0.41).
