India''s feed prices remain unchanged
India''s feed prices remain unchanged on Wednesday (Sep 26) despite a fall in the prices of soy, bajra and corn.
Subhash Sharma, Financial Head, Sarvottam Poultry Feed Supply Centre Pvt Ltd, told Business Line that despite a fall in the prices of key ingredients, feed prices were kept unchanged because the availability of soymeal is very low. While the fresh arrivals pulled bajra down. It''s unlikely to see any alteration in feed prices in near future, he added. Expectations of a fall in production next month is also a big reason behind not slashing feed prices down.
Although, the availability of soymeal is low, soymeal prices went down by INR300 (US$5.6) and quoted at INR3,900 (US$73) a quintal on Wednesday (Sep 26). Bajra eased by INR30 (US$0.6) and sold at INR1,250 (US$23.4), corn went down by INR160 (US$3) and ruled at INR1,350 (US$25). DCP decreased by INR5 (US$0.1) and went for INR37 (US$0.7) a kilogramme, while fish oil remained unchanged and quoted at INR96 (US$1.8) a litre.
Broiler concentrates feed quoted at INR2,050 (US$38) for a 50-kilogramme bag while broiler starter mash was at INR1,520 (US$28.5). Broiler pre-starter concentrate 30% sold at INR1,740 (US$33) for a 30-kilogramme bag while layer concentrate quoted at INR1,570 (US$29.4) for a 50-kilogramme bag. Pre-lay mash was at INR1,080 (US$20), while broiler finisher went for INR1,510 (US$28) for a 50-kilogramme bag.
Meanwhile, egg went down by INR0.28 (US$0.005) on lack of buying and sold to INR3.15 (US$0.06). On the other hand, broiler and chick prices continued to rule around their previous levels. Broiler quoted at INR70-72 (US$1.3) a kilogramme, while chick went for INR15 (US$0.28).
