India's Shree Vijay to build new aqua feed plant
Getting its machines from China's Muyang Group, Shree Vijay, a major aqua feed firm based in Bhimavaram, India, is planning an automated plant in Andra Pradesh for local and foreign markets.
"We have signed a INR30 crore (300,000,000 Indian rupees= EUR4.5 million; US$6.03 million) order with Muyang group of China to install their high-tech machinery in our upcoming plant in Andhra Pradesh to process aqua feed for fish and shrimp," Shree Vijay managing director B K Murthy said.
Set in the West Godavari district, some 320 km from Hyderabad, the plant will have an automated extruded floating fish feed and pelleted shrimp feed with annual capacity of 180,000 tonnes to meet global demand for aqua feed.
The plant, when built, is estimated to total INR80-crore (800,000,000 Indian rupees, or EUR12.2 million; US$16.35 million).
Noting that aquaculture sector was rapidly growing on rising demand worldwide, company chairman N V R Mohan Rao said though fish and shrimp diets used to contain a large proportion of fish meal, escalating costs of aqua food were making people to opt for vegetable proteins.
As an integrated solution provider in feed manufacturing, grain milling and food processing, the Yangzhou-based US$8-billion Muyang exports a variety of equipment to 85 countries worldwide and undertakes turnkey projects in Europe, Middle East, Asia-Pacific, South East Asia and Far East.
