Denmark is fourth largest fish exporter
UN's Food and Agriculture Organization highlights Denmark as the fourth largest exporter of fish products, and the country's larger companies are prepared to invest in global expansions.
Danish fishing, fish farming and fish feed producers are leading the way for Danish export.
Biomar, a fish feed supplier to fish farms, is in the midst of building a new DKK60 million (EUR8.05 million; US$11.71 million) to DKK70 million (US$13.77 million) factory in Costa Rica that will have the capacity to produce 50,000 tonnes of fish feed to Latin America.
Billund Aquakulturservice has also set its sights on expansion, as the company is taking part in the DKK45 million (US$8.85 million) investment project "Hvide Sande", which will produce fish at around 4.5 kg. The location is expected to produce its first fish in 2012. Billund Aquakulturservice will also exert efforts toward expanding operations in Moldova.
