De Heus, Aviagen ink feed manufacturing deal
Aviagen EPI and feed miller De Heus Pasze in Poland have signed a contract for the supply of specific feeds to EPI''s Grand Parent Stock farms which deliver hatching eggs to the new hatchery in Hilbersdorf, Germany.
Based upon a long lasting and fruitful cooperation in the Netherlands, Aviagen EPI (producer of Ross broiler breeding stock) asked De Heus if its Polish subsidiary could supply high quality feeds for GPS birds in Poland.
After a process of reconstructing its existing feed plants in Poland to state-of-the-art standards, a new feed mill in Miescisko (50 km North-East of Poznan) was erected.
Together with this modernisation a specific investment is made to produce high quality feeds following the Aviagen protocol.
This includes a controlled heat treatment for a specified time in an extra hygienic closed production system with specific attention for deliveries to exclude any recontamination risk.
Grand Parent Stock broiler breeders are the birds that are at the top of the breeding chain and produce hatching eggs to make the broiler breeder parent stock. Broiler breeders then produce hatching eggs to produce broilers for poultry meat.
In 2009, Aviagen invested in a new hatchery in Hilbersdorf to increase European hatchery capacity. Top quality and bacteriological control from the beginning is the key to produce finally safe meat for consumers.
Both Aviagen EPI and De Heus confirm their support towards a quality orientated broiler production chain and have full confidence in future broiler production.
