As the fastest animal growing production in the world today, the aquaculture industry is brimming with vast potentials evidenced by numerous aquaculture products sprouting in the market today.
To seize this great opportunity, Alltech Philippines has embarked on the Philippine aquaculture by immersing its products to local fish and shrimp raisers. According to Dr. Daniel Tolentino, technical sales manager for integrator accounts, Alltech Philippines have tied up with local aqua feed millers and are already conducting pond trials in Cebu for tilapia.
"There''s a huge potential, we have products that can address issues encountered by local raisers. These products of ours successfully perform in providing solutions in Asia Pacific for aquaculture business," says Tolentino, expressing confidence that Alltech - which is already prominent among poultry and swine sectors - can also become a household name in the aquaculture arena.
What makes Alltech''s products different from the rest is that they are multi-specie application, says Tolentino, meaning they can be used by other livestock animals too. "We are just expanding the usage of our products to local aquaculture that other countries in Asia Pacific region are actively doing and who are already successful in providing solutions to their clients," tells Tolentino.
Currently, Alltech''s products being introduced to aquaculture are Bio-Mos, NuPro, Bioplexes, Deo-dorase and Sel-Plex. Tolentino says these products are specifically expected to Bio-Mos and NuPro are currently doing good in farm trials in Cebu and Bacolod.
While the company is relatively new on the aquaculture scenario, Tolentino specifically says Alltech products can increase the survivability of fin fish and good feed conversion ratio for shrimps and other aquaculture species. "We are confident that we can reach our expectations because our products can definitely give farmers and really improve their farm performance," tells Tolentino.
Established in 1998, Alltech Philippines began its humble beginnings with a single dealer, a small office, small warehouse and three personnel. From the initial operations, Alltech Philippines rose to the ranks, its popularity gradually emerging in the local animal health circle. Its achievements throughout the years include Best Animal Health Company and National Product Quality Excellence Awards in 2005; and the Office of the Year among Alltech outlets worldwide in 2006.
To further strengthen its presence nationwide, Alltech Philippines has opened its first branch in Davao City in the Mindanao region in 2006 and followed by another satellite office in Pampanga province in North Luzon. Max Purser, Alltech''s Southeast Asia general manager during the company''s annual lecture tour in the country in June this year said that the Asia Pacific Region is projected to hit US$100 million revenue this year and of this, five percent will come from the Philippines.
In an interview, Purser said, the company''s growth will directly come from working with end users and the Philippines is going to be strong because of its growing population relative to the rest of the world.
As one of the leading feed ingredient suppliers in the world, Alltech offers a range of internationally researched products including yeast cultures and extracts, enzymes, organic minerals, biologically active proteins, flavours and direct-fed microbials, For more than 25 years, Alltech''s core competency has been yeast and natural enzyme technology wherein the company has applied those years of experience to provide a range of natural solutions to the aqua feed sector. With its new-fangled innovations and other developments in the offing, Alltech is believed to lead in the global feed manufacturing and animal health arena in the next few years and Alltech Philippines is expected to make headway in the company''s continued progress.
