The Maschhoffs to build US$14 million feed mill
Carlyle, Illinois-based swine cooperative, The Maschhoffs Inc., plans to build a US$14 million feed mill south of Griggsville, Illinois.
The mill could produce 450,000 tonnes of feed per year, more than doubling the company's current capacity at a site north of Pittsfield.
The new mill will add eight to 14 jobs over the next two or three years, mainly in a new pelleting line, grain storage and trucking.
Features of the new feed mill include having storage for 37,500 tonnes of grain for its own use, grain storage will not be provided for farmers, no livestock will be housed at the site, and everything will be enclosed to limit dust concerns.
Construction would begin in summer.
